The HP model that prints, scans and faxes, the F340, only prints at about 3 pages per minute and costs approximately $300 new. The HP 470 prints much faster (22 pages per minute black and white), does color, black and white and borderless 4×6 photos or 8×10 photos with borders. It weighs about four and one half pounds, also runs on standard electricity and an included lithium battery and costs between $250 and $300.
When talking portable laptop printers, the features you want – size, ability to print in color, whether or not they print photos, weight and pages per minute – all seem to determine price. Depending on whether you are a traveling businessman, or a vacationing photographer, your needs will be different and so will your printer criteria.
