Samsung N120 Mini Laptop

Designing mini laptops is among the most challenging task in the field of laptop computing. Samsung is one of the few companies that have successfully designed cheap and sleek models. The Samsung NC20, Samsung N120, Samsung go N310 and N110, NC10 are some of the popular models in the market. The N120 has especially attracted many users due to its efficient design and reasonable cost.

Design and features

Samsung N120 is designed with wider keyboard and attractive shiny white chassis. Compared with the keyboards of other similar devices, N120 doubtlessly has one the best keyboard. The keys are arranged in such a way that the typing is never rigid.

This mini laptop computer also provides a three speakers system, also knows as the 2.1 system. Two bezel-mounted speakers are positioned on either side of the screen and one, subwoofer, is at the front part of the body. The touchpad is highly responsive and accurate in locating the objects on the screen. The mouse buttons are also easy to handle. N120 plays video smoothly and sounds wonderful with the stereo speakers.

Specifications

N120 consists of Atom N270 processor which is clocked at 1.6 GHz speed. The device uses Intel 945 GSE graphics chip. Diagonally the screen is 10 inch in a 16:9 wide ratio with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. There are two USB ports and an Ethernet port on the left side of the device. A Kensington lock, audio in/out, VGA out and one USB port are on the right side. Additionally, a 3-in-1 memory card reader is present.

The mini laptop has 1 GB Ram and 160 GB hard disk, running at 5,400 rpm. The device is equipped with 1.3 Mpixel webcam and an internal Atheros AR5007EG 802.11g Wi-Fi card. It runs on a 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery which lasts for 7 hours and 24 minutes.

The Good

N120 shines with its spacious keyboard. The keyboard is wider than other similar mini laptops. The 2.1 speaker system provides appealing sound. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity really work very well.

The Bad

The graphic performance is not up to the expectation. It is a litter slower than the average mini laptop.
