So many news stories about the apple iPad mini. Is the new iPad 2 really going to be a mini or is it simply going to be an updated regular iPad? I really think that it has to be a mini.
Apple simply are not going to update a new model so soon. But a smaller model makes total sense. It will also be great news for leather iPad case makers. They will get a whole new hoard of avid consumers looking to protect their new purchases. I for one really do think it is going to be a mini iPad that we see.
Reading the news it seems that there are leaks from sources in Taiwan stating that companies are already producing 7 inch screens and this makes it very likely that it will be an iPad mini that we see before the end of the year.
I think this will be an interesting move as it puts the model in direct competition with the Amazon Kindle 3. The Kindle has been selling in massive numbers lately and it is not even released until some time in mid September. But if apple make an iPad that is similar in size then you can pretty much guarantee that many consumers will be swayed by the sleek look and design of the iPad and may not buy a Kindle as they had previously intended.
It is going to be an interesting few months and let’s hope that the new model is released before Christmas when sales will be very high. But from previous apple releases we know that this may not be the case, they could release it at any time at all. Only time will tell when it is finally going to be released and what it is that they actually do bring to consumers who seem ready to buy anything that apple releases.
