How To Make Money Recycling Printers

recycling symbolKeeping a printer out of the landfill is an excellent idea.  They are manufactured with nasty chemicals like arsenic and mercury that will leech out into the Earth over time.  The good news is that you can make a few bucks with printer recycling, and do your part to help our planet.

The three R’s of simple things you can do to help the planet are recycle, reduce, and reuse.  These all work in concert with one another, and when are all applied together big change can be made. Recycling computers and their peripheral hardware components is not all that difficult.  By recycling your old printer or selling it to someone else and allowing them to reuse it reduces the need for new printers.  Anything you can do to keep it out of the landfill is recycling and that is good for the environment.

There are a couple of ways to do this.  HP printer recycling is done the easiest by working directly with HP.  They will pay you for recycling some models of their printers, as well as those from Compaq.  On their website you fill out a simple form where you state what type of printer you have and what condition it is currently in.  They will tell you how much they will offer you for it, as well as directing you to print out the shipping label.  Once they get the printer, you get paid.  Even if they won’t pay you, they will accept your printer for standard recycling.

Another way to do this is locally.  Craigslist and your local classifieds are great ways to sell your old printer.  Compared to sending the printer back to the manufacturer, you will probably get more money selling it this way.  One of the biggest selling points that people look for in used printers is whether or not they have ink, so if yours does you are in a great position to sell it.

Printer recycling just makes sense, and it’s even better when you can make a few bucks doing it!
